Sheung-King's Writing Futures Workshops Are Coming to Brampton Library
May 13, 2021, Brampton, Ontario: Sheung-King Aaron Tang's debut novel, You are Eating an Orange. You are Naked, is not only currently shortlisted for the Amazon First Novel Award, it was longlisted for CBC Books' Canada Reads and named a Best Book Debut by The Globe and Mail newspaper.Sheung-King is also on the roster for this year's virtual Festival of Literary Diversity (FOLD) here in Brampton.
Brampton Library is very excited to welcome Sheung-King to our safe virtual space to present his Writing Futures creative writing workshop series on May 26 and June 2 and again on June 9 and June 16. All sessions begin at 7:00 pm. We will also be discussing his novel during two sessions of our Up for Discussion Book Club in May and June.
"For this virtual workshop, we will be imagining a character using simple questions...What is the perfect day in 2041? What is work...in 20 years?...We're not just relying on the past. Future is ever-emerging. It's multifaceted. So after we do this exercise we will be hypothesizing at least three futures: The possible, probable, and preferable...by doing that we're going to understand the present better...and we'll use that as a topic to write a story," comments Sheung-King on our blog.
Everyone is welcome to register for the workshops, but space is limited! Join either two-day workshop and learn more at these links:
