Juss Kaur, an International Education Consultant, was born in Nairobi, Kenya and has been living in Montreal, Quebec for over thirty years. With a DPhil from Oxford University, Dr. Kaur creates pieces of art which communicate messages of connection to a higher being or energy. Her repetitive and minutely written calligraphic renditions are based on the word, Waheguru ["Wah-hay- guroo”. Wah means infinite, hay means Thou, and guru means Higher Self (the Divine Teacher within you) and is similar in essence to Allah-Hu or Om chant. The word is offered by Sikh Gurus as a pathway to reach enlightenment and Juss also uses small pointillist dots in vibrant oil pastels, representing the particle nature of Universe. Her creations hint at the illusionary nature of our world, while at the same time subtly implying the universal spirit surrounding us. Depending on the size, each piece can contain between 500 to over 10,000 hand-written “Wahegurus”. Juss engages the audience in her personal journey of exploration of her spiritual experiences.
“Art should stir your conscious and elevate your mind and soul to new heights, making you feel enriched, enlightened and empowered”. This is Navneet Magon Anand’s mantra. A native of Montreal and currently residing in suburban Boston, Navneet’s practice DESIGN VERITAS, focuses on Conscious Art, Visual & Architectural Design. She has an Architecture and Art History degree from McGill University. Her collection ‘The Art of Conscious Living,” includes abstract poetic paintings that invite inquiry into the concept of reading beyond lines. With a subtle minimalistic approach, Navneet creates intense personal moments by the use of vibrant color and texture, and layers her paintings for shifting perspectives and multifaceted interpretations. The prime focus of the strokes is to discover, create, and interpret the concept of "ZEN” - whatever definition that may be to one, she believes, is about inspiration, contemplation, and being 'alive' within. Her works responds to the surrounding environment and experiences as a starting point and becomes an invitation for contemplation for the viewer. Let her inspire you to see the beauty of your visual world - where what you see has such a profound & contemplative effect on you to think and think and then to re-think.
