Awards Program Launches Celebrating Community Heritage Heroes

Giving Credit Where Credit's Due!

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario April, 26, 2013 Heritage Mississauga announces the launch of its new awards program the Credits, dedicated to honouring contributions and achievements of unsung heritage heroes in our community. Eight categories are open for nominations by the communtiy.
 "We have such unique and deep heritage in our city and the Credits, Heritage Mississauga Awards is an opportunity to celebrate this heritage and those that work towards maintaining and promoting it" said Event Chair Jake Dheer, Station Manager of Rogers TV and former Citizen of the Year. 
Nominations are open from April 23rd to June 28th. One award of excellence will be presented in each of the following categories: Lifetime Achievement, Heritage Business Leader, Heritage Champion, Community Heritage, and in the categories of Youth, Aboriginal, Modern and Natural.

Additionally The Cultural Heritage Property Awards will be presented in partnership with the Mississauga Heritage Advisory Committee. This set of awards, in its fourth year, honours excellence in Restoration, Adaptive Re-Use, Sensitive Infill (for Listed or Designated properties) andSensitive Infill in a Cultural Landscape and Universal Accessibility Design. Nominations forms are available at www.mississauga.ca/heritage. The Betty Ross Memorial Volunteer Award will be presented by the Museums of Mississauga. Heritage Mississauga, members will select theirMembers' Choice Award from all nominations. In all, eleven awards will be given to members of the Mississauga community during this inaugural evening.

This unique awards event will be held on Thursday November 21st at the Mississauga Grand Banquet and Convention Centre and will highlight the cultural heritage distinction of our City. The sound of the Aboriginal drum will begin the festivities and throughout the evening Mississauga youth will entertain. Nomination and Ticket forms are available at the Heritage Mississauga websitewww.heritagemississauga.com or through the office at 1921 Dundas St. W, 905- 828-8411 ext "0", or by e-mail at: info@heritagemississauga.org.   Tickets are $65.00 each and includes dinner and entertainment, or an Early Bird table price of $500 for a table of 10 which closes September 28th.

Heritage Mississauga is a not-for-profit charity dedicated to researching, recording and communicating Mississauga's heritage. They are Mississauga's heritage source and for over 50 years have worked tirelessly to ensure the heritage of our city is preserved for future generations. Funds raised at this event will support the Heritage Resource Centre that the organization operates at The Robinson-Adamson House, The Grange (charitable registration no:11924 5660 RR0001).
