Synopsis:
The film takes off from the point where a wounded man is left to die in the desert. He survives the ordeal but loses his Identity. He then resorts to robbing solitary car drivers traversing on this highway. He becomes a Thug and finds an abandoned shed as his hideaway, where three troubled individuals Harry, Toto and Pali find him. They take him to their home in a nearby village and name him Baba, the beleaguered stowaway makes a deal with Harry that he will fight for his property seized by a local brute and in return Harry would help him find his real identity. When Harry is not of any help, Pali steps in. Baba and sympathetic Pali embark on a very long journey to solve his mystery. Flashes of his wife, visions of being stabbed and then betrayed come rushing to his mind.
His relentless search leads to something more diabolic than his expectations.
Director's Bio:
Sartaj Singh Pannu has been working as a freelance Assistant Director to Hindi film directors in Mumbai. He always wanted to make a mainstream film with his style of film-making.
He has written 6 scripts (he calls it the Bank of scripts ) which are still to be made into motion pictures, SOCH LO (Mirage) being the 7th of his scripts , is his debut film as writer, director and actor.
Director's note:
When Sartaj Singh Pannu got no response for scripts he had pitched to various studios/producers in Mumbai,
Pannu then decided to make/produce a small film.
The idea of SOCH LO was to make a student diploma film to showcase his talent. He wrote the script keeping with the aesthetics blending with a mainstream taste, yet new for Indian audience. Basically a contained script for a quickie film.
Gradually in the process of writing, the script got bigger in scale and so did the dream but the budget remained the same.
He contacted freshly passed out students from FTTI (PUNE) ( India’s premier and oldest film institute), promised them little money, lotsa hard work and good content to work on.
After the first schedule in (Jaisalmer ) Rajasthan the shoot was just 40% complete and it consumed the entire budget, but the film looked good on rushes.
The show reel of Soch Lo was cut and uploaded on You tube , and through You Tube Sartaj got the rest of his funds, yet the prime contributor was Sartaj’s brother Karanbir Singh Pannu and SOCH LO, a full length film Hindi feature film was ready .
Pannu brothers managed to raise funds three times to what they had initially budgeted.
Actors Bio:
BARKHA MADAN
Barkha madan , is a former miss India finalist. After a few modeling assignments she moved towards Theatre, Television and films. Her Television shows 1857 KRANTI, MERA HUMSAFAR, SAATH PHERE were very successful. Simultaneously she acted in films such as the Indo-Dutch film DRIVING MISS PALMEN and then in the Hindi Blockbuster BHOOT and later SOCH LO.
The film will be releasing on Nov 20th (7pm) at the Carlton Cinemas (Carlton & Yonge)www.carltoncinema.ca (with another screening on Sunday, Nov 21st at 2pm)
