A Book Launch ceremony was held at the Consulate General of India, Toronto on 2 May 2017.

A Book Launch ceremony was held at the Consulate General of India, Toronto on 2 May 2017.  The Consul General of India, Shri Dinesh Bhatia released the book ‘Ootamini Ageekarinchanu’ (Oota-mini Agee-karin-chanu), Telugu translationby Prof. Lakshmi Prasad Yarlagadda of the book" Haar Nahin Manunga: Ek Atal Jeevan Gatha".  Haar Nahin Manunga is a biography of India’s former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee written by Vijai Trivedi.
Around 100 enthusiasts from different walks of life attended the ceremony.  The Consul General while addressing the guests reiterated the importance of languages and thanked scholars and writers for helping mend the difference by translating the works in native languages and help in exchange of perspective and ideas.   Shri Dinesh Bhatia also thanked Prof. Yaralagadda for his significant contribution to expanding the horizons of the literary domains of Hindi and Telugu, through meaningful and well received translations and original works in both the languages.  

In this speech, Mr. Lakshmi Prasad Yaralagadda stated that the barriers of region and language could be overcome through exchange of ideas and understanding of different perspectives, rooted in diverse socio-cultural settings.  He also stressed the need to translate books into other language in order to have wider reach.  Prof. Lakshmi Prasad is the recipient of PADMA SRI in the year 2003 and PADMABHUSHAN in 2016 for his contributions to the domain of literature which inspired him even more to strive for expanding literary horizons in the cause of the Nation.  

Prof. Yaralagadda is one of the pioneers in facilitating wider interaction through his relentless efforts for translating acclaimed literary works of Hindi and Telugu, the largest spoken languages of our country, into each other. He also did a stint with the Consulate General of India, Toronto as Director, Indian Cultural Centre. StarBuzzOnline
