FOURTH ANNUAL CELEBRATING WOMANHOOD GALA HONOURS COMMUNITY LEADERS


MISSISSAUGA, ON (March 10, 2016) – The Indo-Canadian Arts and Cultural Initiative (ICACI) is all set to host its fourth annual Celebrating Womanhood event with an aim to support and recognize the role of a woman in today’s society.
This event, designed to be a platform for global recognition for women, aims to inspire the concept that gender is no longer the deciding factor for success and that all individuals, both male and female have a responsibility to build, contribute and maintain a society that is free of gender bias and truly, in every sense of the word, provides equal opportunities for all.

Mokshi Virk, founder and Director of ICACI said: “A woman is always challenged with playing multiples roles – she is a mother, a friend, a wife, a colleague and she needs to play all these roles to perfection. We endeavour to honour the hero within her that allows her to play all these parts tirelessly.” Happening on March 19, 2016 at Grand Taj Banquet and Convention Centre, Mississauga, Ontario, this year’s Celebrating womanhood aims to honour South Asian woman who have made a mark for themselves in the field of Arts, Culture, Media, Business among others.

The award ceremony will be honouring six women heroes from different walks of life who have contributed to the society while achieving professional success in their chosen walks of life. This year, ICACI will be recognizing the achievements of the following people:

Arts - Meena Chopra

Community Leadership - Gugni Gill

Diversity - Mina Rahravan

Social service - Samra Zafar

Business - Amanpreet Chopra

Public Service - Kathy Mcdonald

The event will also have a networking opportunity for attendees, breathtaking performances by the Sanskriti Arts Ensemble, a glamorous fashion show by Shivani Sawhney from Silver Tulip and dinner and dance.

“ICACI is a proud organizer of such events”, said Virk. “As women of today, we believe we must lead our society into a new paradigm of abundance, recognition and equal opportunities created and sustained through positive thoughts and actions of trust, support and unconditional love.”

Mokshi Virk, one of the founding partners of ICACI has been organizing the International Woman’s Day Celebrating Womanhood Gala and Award Night for the past three years, giving Woman Hero awards to members of the community who in their own way have contributed to social development and philanthropic activities within the community.Through this event and award function, Virk has tried to honour and support women of the Indo-Canadian origin, thus establishing them as role models and paving walkways for future generations.
