IMTIHAAN
Synopsis
The story of this serial speaks about interaction of two cultures-Indian and Western. This story is about two girls who are highly impressed and influenced by two cultures and two types of society. Both the girls of same age are striving to search their own identity which is lost in their own society.Bharati - (one of them) is born and brought up in Canada. but is forced to follow the Indian culture and traditions to its core. Her parents especially her father is stonge follower of Indian heritage. For Bharati, the life-style in her own house is entirely different than the life-style of her other environments where she is likely to be when she is out of the house. This contrast creates confusion in her mind and chaos in her life. As a result she looses her own identity and becomes a confused person.

This goes on till the time she is unable to take decision for herself. One fine morning she decides to visit India about which her father is highly impressed. She herself wants to see the country and the culture of India and then wants to decide where she fits in. By this she wants to make her own identity.

On the other hand Seema who lives in India with her parents is victim of conventional and orthodox customs and traditions. Her parents never wanted to cross the border demarked by their society. Even though the daughter is well educated and talented she should get married up to certain age.

Marriage, according to them is the ultimate objective in a girl's life no matter how talented she is. In short, the parents of Seema were highly influenced by the rules and regulations formed by the society which they were blindly following.  Not only that but they were imposing them on their children as well. One day they got a proposal, a boy from Canada for Seema. They jumped at it as if they were waiting for that proposal. The boy was, of course, educated belonging to a good-rich family with many more qualification topping all was the Citizenship.

The parents, with great difficulty convinced the daughter Seema for the marriage. And she crosses the border of her own country and goes to Canada, to start her new life with her husband and his family. She sacrifices all her dreams to make her parents happy. But…on the very first night she is victimised by an incident, which does not allow her to be with her husband. All her remaining dreams are shattered. She has been cheated by her husband and her in laws. She leaves her husband's house and is stranded in a foreign country.

Look at the irony!  Bharati who has come to see India finds the country exactly opposite to her imagination. She has come here to find her identity but unfortunately she is lost in this country. Seema, who has gone to U.S.A. is cheated by the people whom she depended on, whom she trusted, came back to India.

Now comes the twist in the story both these girls become friends through Internet. They both exchange their views and share experiences. They both meet in India and start their journey together.

They both come in contact with a boy called Adarsh who really shows them the right path. He leads them to the path of life and culture in the true sense of the word. He becomes idol of both Bharati and Seema. It is a love triangle, but none of them comes in the way of the other. They come very close day by day.

And…ultimately…all three of them find the solution to their problem from their own culture the root of which is our own heritage INDIAN CULTURE.
