StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-Oct 31, 2011 - BookChums interviewed mystery writer Sujata Massey who has penned a series of mystery books that follow the life of a young, feisty half American half Japanese. Her series include famous titles like The Salaryman's Wife, The Bride’s Kimono, Shimura Trouble and The Flower Master.  


In the meaty interview Sujata Massey speaks about how the character Rei Shimura has evolved in the 10 titles. “Rei Shimura is not very much like me, except for the way that she loves both her parents and what they gave her; and how much she wants to be accepted by her relatives in their countries,” smiles Sujata.
The author also shared her plans about her next novels and to why exotic recipes are such an integral part of her blog.

Novelist Sujata Massey’s books are essentially mystery novels set in Japan. Her protagonist, Rei Shimura, is the daughter of a Japanese Buddhist father and an American mother. Her novels are known for intricate plots, very little violence, complicated and well-etched characters. Massey’s work provides a window into the life of Japan.
