Glimpses of India Pavilion - Carassaugaa Festival of Cultures

The Carassauga Festival of Cultures was celebrated with much pomp and full traditional splendour on the 3rd, 4th & 5th of June 2011 in Missississauga. The India Pavillion was at Hershey Centre, which as usual, was one of the most popular pavilion. It was again organised for the 26th year by the NAIC (National Association of Indo Canadians) under the able leadership of its President Mr Manmohan Singh and his team consisting of Chair Meena Chopra, Treasurer Maninder Atwal, Advisors Tony Marwah, Manoj Goel, Virat Bhat, Shashi Jain & Aruna Bhatnagar, Co-Chairs Chintan Bhavsar & Kamlesh Oberoi, Programming Co-ordinator Mr GV Sreeram and Co-ordinator Nita Balani.

There were many young volunteers who also contributed their bit. The main sponsors of the India Pavillion were Scotia Bank and Windmobile. The Pavilion consisted of 30 vendors who had put up their stalls of, dresses, gift items, jewellery, leather goods, henna etc. Brar Sweets were dishing out tantalising & mouth watering Indian dishes. The audiences were enthralled and entertained by the non-stop enchanting stage performances, dances and songs by talented Indian artists and performers.

Prominent important personalities who visited the India Pavilion were Mr Jason Kenney, Hnble Minister of Citizenship & Multiculturalism, Mayor Hazel McCallion of Mississauga Mr Bob Delaney MPP Streetsville and Ms. Charandasi from Indian Consulate among others.
