Toronto, ON – February 15, 2017 – On Tuesday, February 28, 2017, 200 children from the Calico, Shoreham, Stanley, and Warden Woods Public Schools will travel to Ottawa as part of the 2017 Black History Month Celebrations.
The 200 children will dressed in identical 2017 Black History Month tee-shirts. They will be accompanied on the trip by the Hon. Jean Augustine and a number of leaders in the Black community.
At 6:15 am, children from our Calico, Shoreham, Stanley, and Warden Woods Breakfast Clubs will kick off Black History Month celebrations when they present framed 2017 Black History Month posters to members of the Toronto Police Service.
In Ottawa, the children will attend a welcome reception at the Parliament Buildings hosted by The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, P.C., M.P., Prime Minister of Canada, Ottawa, The Honourable Ahmed D. Hussen, The Honourable Judy A. Sgro, Gary Anandasangaree, The Honourable Ali Ehsassi, and The Honourable Greg Fergus during which copies of the 2017 Black History Month Poster will be presented to Members of Parliament. The children will attend tours of the Parliament Buildings and The Senate.
The trip has been made possible by the strong partnerships The Children's Breakfast Clubs has with Via Rail and Amalgamated Transit Union Local 113.
