CONTINUING PROGRAM OF SPEAKERS AND PERFORMERS – JANUARY THROUGH MARCH

Sudhaji was a versatile artist and functioned in multiple genres at different points of time in her life—Classical dance (performance, choreography, teaching, presenting),research and documentation of folk and tribal arts for eight years all over India, Theatre acting (for which she was a gold medalist), photography, and film making. Her greatest and most lasting work was done in the last 25 years through her curatorial work with all genres of classical and contemporary dance under the banner of Kalanidhi International Festivals and Symposia of Indian Dance. An enormous number of dancers, choreographers, teachers all over the Indian Diaspora came under her influence and they feel deeply grateful to her for their own accomplishments in life and art. Many of today's eminent dancers have expressed their desire to get involved by paying their tributes not only verbally but also through their dance.

It is clear that the story of Sudhaji's life and art cannot be told in one evening; it has to be a continuing flow over a period of time.

The Memorial event will therefore will be spread over a four month period from December 2016-March 2017. It will finally culminate, coincide and conclude at Kalanidhi's next international festival, "Whirling Streams" planned for March 28 to April 1, 2017 at Harbourfront Centre's, Fleck Dance Theatre Toronto.

During the pre-festival period from December to Mid-March, we shall make our best effort to maintain a fairly steady flow through "LIVE and ENCORE STREAMING over the internet of Dance and Verbal tributes by leading and emerging dancers who are both currently operating and also retrieved from Kalanidhi's archival footage of past festivals, symposia, critical talks, and relevant panel discussions. The dates, times and other details will be announced over Facebook and other social media, and also through growing membership in our own MTDC-KALANIDHI LIVE STREAMING  PROJECT.

WE SINCERELY HOPE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE EVENT ON Sunday December 18, 2016 at 4pm.
