“WINGS Celebrating Women 2015” leads the community to new heights By Joyeeta Dutta Ray

International Women’s Day is here on March 8th and so is the time to celebrate who they are.  

After the resounding success of the last two “Celebrating Women” gala nights in Mississauga, WINGS (Women’s Initiatives to Nurture, Grow and Support) is once again perched to take Canadian women on a higher path. This time, the event is primarily a fund-raiser for the Ernestine’s Women Shelter.  

Supported by the Mississauga Arts Council (MAC), the event will be graced by the Hon. Mayor of Mississauga, Bonnie Crombie as the Chief Guest. Executive Director or MAC, Anu Vittal is the keynote speaker, followed by other distinguished professionals.  The event aims to create authentic connections between local women who think globally and together take steps to further strengthen society.   

The social enterprise is founded by Sanjukta Das, an educator, Art of Living Teacher and an advocate of women empowerment, together with a group of driven, dedicated, like-minded women members. WINGS encourages women from all walks of life to come together, connect with each other and contribute to act as a catalyst for change in the community.   

WINGS believes that women are the epicentre of every family. When women are empowered with education and opportunities, the families emerge stronger which in turn strengthens the community as a whole.  Yet, this is often an uphill task for many, professionally and personally, even when they are at the helm of their corporations.  

“WINGS Celebrating Women 2015” is all about courage, patience, and resilience in the face of adversity.   

Dynamic women leaders have been invited to share their valuable insights and experiences in their journeys. Outstanding women achievers in the community will be recognized and rewarded. Talks will be held to inspire the audience, help amplify new voices and garner support for creating programs to empower women in difficult life situations.  

The engaging afternoon presents a medley of dialogues, discussions, diverse cultural entertainment and a silent auction followed by lunch. The event is open to all.  

WINGS invites everyone to come together and help the community soar higher.  

“WINGS Celebrating Women 2015” will be held at from 12.00 pm - 3.00 pm at the Holiday Inn Express Suites, 40 Admiral Boulevard, Mississauga, ON L5T2W1.  Tickets priced at $35 include lunch and fundraising contribution.
