Learn many ways to create your own Artist Trading Cards (ATC's), or Art Cards, originals and editions (ACEO's), as they are also called. They are limited to the size of sport trading cards (2.5" x 3.5"), but created using a variety of media. ATC's are a fun way to create a mini art piece to share with friends and also other artists. Issue yourself a challenge to work very small or use these cards as experiments for much larger works in the future. Alison has prepared an extensive outline and will supply some of the necessary supplies, but will also suggest supplies you could bring along. This will be a Sunday afternoon workshop at iMAGEMAKER Gallery, September 14, 1 pm-4 pm.
July 24 – October 19 at the Art Gallery Of Mississauga – The Sahmat Collective: Art And Activism In India Since 1989. Animated by the urgent belief that art can propel change and that culture can reach across boundaries, Sahmat has created space for an expansive group of artists and collaborators to present powerful works of art that defend freedom of expression and battle intolerance within India's often divisive political landscape.

Mississauga Remembers by Heritage Mississauga is in the Central Library untilSeptember 26. August 4, 2014 marks the 100th Anniversary of the beginning of Canada’s involvement in the First World War. “Mississauga Remembers” is an ongoing Heritage Mississauga program that recognizes and acknowledges the contributions made by our community during wartime. Both at home and on the front, local men and women have served from as early as the War of 1812 until today. As the anniversary approaches of the First World War, much has been done to research and record the local fallen and the work done at home to support the soldiers and the war effort. Help us remember, preserve and share the story of Mississauga’s sacrifices in the First World War. The first in a series of exhibits, publications and presentations, the “Soldier’s Kit-Bag” exhibit examines the life of a soldier on the front. This exhibit brings to life some of those items a local soldier would have carried in his “kit-bag” as well as a number of the gifts he may have received from home. This travelling exhibit will be located in libraries across Mississauga and at First World War commemorative events over the next four years.
