Rockin' music group wins the People's Choice Award at the 2014 MARTYS
Mississauga, ON: The Monster Rock Orchestra (MRO) won the People's Choice Award last night at the 2014 MARTYs, beating out 122 other nominees across all categories. The MRO was picked by the people of Mississauga out of a diverse pool of artistic talent.
"The idea with the MRO was to do something that had never been done before," says Vikas Kohli, Artistic Director of the MRO. "We are so glad it has proven to be such a success and are honoured to win the People's Choice Award."

This innovative, world-class musical experience combines a laser show with a family-friendly rock concert, with a set list featuring both classic and modern hits, from rock to Top 40. This exciting win for the MRO cements it as one of the most unique and cutting-edge musical productions to hit the arts scene to date. The 2014 MARTY Awards, presented by the Mississauga Arts Council,  were held on Thursday, May 8 at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga, showcasing the best of the city's art scene for the 20th year in a row.

With the MARTYs going bigger than ever this year, the MRO won the People's Choice Award by a landslide. Over 7,500 people voted for their favourite act through the Mississauga Arts Council's website.

The Monster Rock Orchestra will be returning on June 13 and 14 as the signature entertainment act of the Mississauga Waterfront Festival. Now in it's third year, this year's show incorporates bigger screen effects and even more lasers than before. Reaching an audience of 45,000 people each year, the MRO puts on a show as wild and electric as its name suggests.
