[May 1, 2014, Brampton] - Brampton Library celebrates the South Asian Heritage Month with book displays and children’s storytimes to highlight this special month. Children’s storytimes are designed to help them become aware of and understand their own culture and the culture of others.
The Library is continuing to acquire a variety of books, magazines, CDs and DVDs for adult and children in South Asian languages such as Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Sinhalese, Tamil, and Urdu languages. In addition to serving this growing community, children’s bilingual books are also available, which feature stories in both English and another language. These unique children’s picture books are a fantastic way to help develop literacy skills and promote continued use of home languages. Free storytimes on South Asian Heritage Month are offered at the following locations:
