12th floor venue C Banquets provides panoramic urban backdrop for fundraiser
(Mississauga)-The Art Gallery of Mississauga (AGM) announces that its 11th Annual Art Auction: Double Up! will be held at C Banquets rather than the gallery this year. An elegant, contemporary event space, C Banquets is located on the 12th floor of the Mississauga Civic Centre, in the same building as the AGM and north of Celebration Square. The space also offers a panoramic view overlooking Mississauga's urban sprawl, including the iconic Absolute World Towers, Lake Ontario, the Niagara Escarpment and the Toronto skyline.
The AGM's decision to move the event to C Banquets is in response to a significant increase in demand for the event. With a seating capacity of 200 and ample space for a backstage area, the new venue will allow the gallery to seat more guests and will ensure an improved flow in the auction programming. Double Up! promises to be the AGM's most spectacular fundraiser yet. The live and silent auctions feature over 100 artworks and one of a kind experiences, an almost 50% increase from previous years. Artists include internationally renowned names in the art world, such as David Blackwood, P. Mansaram, Charles Pachter, Ed Pien, Jim Reid, Bruce Steinhoff and Gu Xiong, as well as Mississauga luminaries Noelle Hamlyn, Sonja Hidas, Warren Hoyano, 2013 AGM Artist of Distinction Lila Lewis Irving, and many more. C Banquets will also provide more space for this year's signature addition to the Auction Programme: a fashion show by Mississauga-based design legend David Dixon, who recently revealed his bridal line at Toronto Fashion Week. The AGM's 11th Annual Art Auction: Double Up! will be held at C Banquets, 300 City Centre Drive, Mississauga, on Wednesday, May 7th, 6 pm. The AGM will also hold a free Preview Exhibition at the gallery from April 24 - May 5, with over a dozen events related to the Auction that are free and open to the public.
