Renowned Designer David Dixon to showcase fashion show at Art Gallery of Mississauga fundraiser

11th Annual Art Auction to celebrate arts and fashion

NEWS                                                                                                                            March 12, 2014 (Mississauga)- Fashion designer David Dixon is partnering with the Art Gallery of Mississauga to headline this year's annual art auction, the gallery's biggest event of the year. The AGM's 11th Annual Art Auction: Double Up! will feature a fashion show to celebrate the creative collaboration between the worlds of arts and vogue. The event will include a specially selected ensemble of the distinguished designer's pieces, as David Dixon presents his own remarks about his signature works. David Dixon is recognized as a leader in women's fashion and as one of Canada's most respected designers. His modern designs have won him a following among the elite communities of film and fashion, and have been featured in Vogue, Marie Claire, Flare, MTV and Project Runway. He apprenticed with well-known Canadian designer Alfred Sung, and in 1995 established the David Dixon label, headquartered in Mississauga. The Art Gallery of Mississauga Annual Art Auction brings together artists and art lovers from across the GTA, allowing emerging artists from our community to showcase their works and giving them wider exposure to local and global audiences. The event will feature 100 amazing items in both the live and silent auction, including a collection of individually selected original artworks by regional, national and international artists, fine wines, exotic getaways and more. The annual event attracts approximately 200 attendees every year, and all proceeds go to support the public, not-for-profit art gallery. The auction takes place onWednesday, May 7 at 6pm; tickets ($75) are available for pre-order by contacting the AGM at905-896-5088.
