I'm writing this letter to remind my fellow Canadians that a very special day is coming on February 15th 2014.
National Flag of Canada Day is a day that we celebrate the birth of our Canadian Flag, On this day we celebrate and remember the rich heritage of our country. Forty-nine years ago the red and white Maple Leaf Flag flew above the Parliament Buildings for the first time, and then on February 15th 1996 we celebrated National Flag of Canada Day for the first time. Our Flag flew proudly when the world came to Canada for Expo 67 and during the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. Our Flag is proudly worn on Canadian Forces uniforms in the engagements in defense of freedom and democracy and provided crucial disaster relief for people in need around the world. Our Flag is worn proudly by Canadians on their lapels when visiting other countries.
Our Flag is the greatest symbol of our country we are proud whenever we see it fly. As Canadians it is our obligation to show our pride in our Flag more than we have in the past. In 2015, we will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of our Flag. as we begin the second 50 years lets show the world that we live in the greatest country in the world by organizing and participating in Flag Day events and flying our Flag from our homes and places of business during Flag Day and Canada Day each year. Our Flag represents a country that is strong and united, independent and free. Let's show future generations that our flag should always inspire great pride. On Saturday February 15th fly the Canadian flag from your home and/or place of business.
