Join Daphne Vaz, a seasoned media executive, to learn more about the different funding programs available in Ontario and how they can be beneficial to your production. Joining Daphne will be a panel of 4 other industry professionals including: Matt Walach, Innovation Funding Specialist at Mobile Capital Network; Jill Samson, representing the Canadian Media Fund (CMF); Ivonete de Sousa, representing the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) and their funding opportunities; and Catherine Kunz, representing bank financing opportunities, in particular the National Bank of Canada. This session is targeted to those who are new to the industry and those who are new to the media funding application process. It is targeted to professionals in the area of film, television and interactive digital media looking to learn how to get their project(s) funded. Jill Samson, Canadian Media Fund (CMF): With over 20 years of experience in film and television production, Jill joined Telefilm in 2008. Her portfolio has included managing the Experimental Stream, the Aboriginal Stream and she is currently responsible for the Diverse Language Fund for the Canada Media Fund. Ivonete de Sousa, Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC): A seasoned professional with over 10 years of experience in the screen-based industries, Ivonete’s team manages funding programs such the OMDC Film Fund - Production & Development; the OMDC Export Fund - Film and TV; and the Industry Development Program in support of business initiatives by not for profit organizations. Catherine Kunz, National Bank of Canada: Her responsibilities at the bank include evaluating film and TV projects for purposes of interim financing. She has financed numerous productions and has established good relationships with first time producers as well as experienced producers.
