Paris, France
The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, meets with his counterpart Anand Sharma, India’s Minister of Commerce, to discuss the progress made during the latest rounds of negotiations toward a comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) between Canada and India. To date, the Canada-India trade negotiations have undergone seven official rounds. A CEPA would benefit Canadian workers and small and medium-sized enterprises by eliminating or reducing tariffs on goods, cutting red tape and facilitating trade in services.
Canada and India’s bilateral merchandise trade was up 12 percent over the past five years, reaching $5.2 billion in 2012, an all-time high.
