Statement by Mayor Fennell on Earth Hour

StarBuzzOnline.com -“On behalf of the City of Brampton, I encourage all Bramptonians to participate in Earth Hour 2013.

“Brampton is home to thoughtful, responsible, and engaged residents who are dedicated to elevating our City’s quality of life, and making Brampton even better place to live and work.
“These admirable characteristics embody the thousands of neighbours, business owners and community volunteers, who promote energy conservation and the need to address climate change, by participating in Earth Hour each year.

“The City of Brampton will do its part by turning off non-essential lights at various facilities during the designated hour on March 23.

“Lighting affecting public safety, security or service – such as streetlights, stoplights, park pathway lighting and parking lot lights at City facilities – will remain on. City Hall parking garage will have reduced lighting during Earth Hour.

“Brampton Fire and Emergency Services encourages residents to maintain a safe environment by using flashlights and avoiding candles and open flames. Public programming at recreation and community centres will also continue as normal.

“In closing, I join all Bramptonians in making Earth Hour 2013 another celebrated, safe and successful event.”
