MISSISSAUGA HYUNDAI SHOOTS AND SCORES!

Dealership Raises $15,000 to Help Local Kids Get in the Game of Hockey
MISSISSAUGA, Ontario (November 20, 2012) – The final whistle has blown and Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. has officially cleared the ice on its first ever Hyundai Hockey Helpers Month. To commemorate their fundraising efforts, today, Mississauga Hyundai is pleased to announce a donation to KidSport Canada in the amount of $15,000 as part of the Hyundai Hockey Helpers program.    KidSport works in partnership with the automobile company to deliver Hyundai Hockey Helpers, an extension of Hyundai’s commitment to preserving hockey as part of the Canadian cultural fabric by helping kids get in the game. In its first year, the program helped more than 1,000 under-resourced Canadian youth play hockey.
During October, Hyundai Hockey Helpers reinvested in local communities across Canada through grassroots initiatives such as dealer fundraising and ambassador trips to hockey arenas. Hyundai Mississauga Dealer Principal, Nav Bhatia, attributes the dealership’s success to the, “total involvement of every employee.” The dealership raised the most amount of money nationally by simply taking the time to tell customers the Hyundai Hockey Helpers story and solicit donations at vehicle purchases, service visits and through a donation box within the dealership.  Additionally, they reached out to their suppliers and offered tickets to Raptors games for donations larger than $56.

“We are so thrilled to have had such a successful fundraising campaign for Hyundai Hockey Helpers.  From day one, our dealership has been determined to make an impact in our community and provide even more under-resourced youth with an opportunity to play Canada’s national sport,” said Bhatia. “We would like to thank our loyal customers, community, suppliers, family and friends for their unequivocal support and interest in such an amazing program. We look forward to making an even bigger impact next year.”

Today, as a result of the dealership’s success, Steve Kelleher, President and CEO, Hyundai Auto Canada Corp.  and program ambassador and Montreal Canadiens star, PK Subban, will join Bhatia as he presents KidSport with a cheque valued at $15,000.  One hundred per cent of these funds raised will go toward helping even more Mississauga-area kids get in the game in 2013.  KidSport, a not-for-profit Canadian organization, provides financial assistance to kids aged 18 and under in the form of grants for registration fees and equipment for organized sports.

“At KidSport, we believe that no kid should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports,” said Dawn MacDonald, KidSport Partnership Lead and Ontario Executive Director. “We are pleased to be working with Hyundai to execute our shared vision to create opportunities for under-resourced kids, and are thrilled with Mississauga Hyundai’s fundraising efforts.”
