Ms. Grewal was nominated for the award by members of the community. We are exceptionally proud of her, and of the recognition our government has given to her on behalf of the Queen. It is a small token that honours the community, and helps to show how Canada is a welcoming home for new Canadians who strive for excellence with integrity.
When asked by Meena Chopra of StarBuzz for Ms. Grewal's comments and feelings on receiving the award, she said, " I am deeply touched and humbled. I hope this award and its recipient’s continue to inspire others to strive for excellence in their chosen field with an unwavering commitment to the growth and prosperity of our province and country. Each day of my life is filled with introspection, awe and soul searching. Time devoted to God and thanks for blessing us in so many ways. To ensure that we never lose the values that were part of our upbringing no matter what the circumstances in life are".
