MP Parm Gill Teams Up With Champions 4 Change for a Healthier City

www.insurancerate.com StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-Our community is coming together to host a fundraising Heart Lake Community Walk for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Brampton’s C.A.R.E. Program
Brampton-Springdale, Ontario –The City of Brampton has remained in the CBC’s nationwide Live Right Now movement’s spotlight for its perseverance, passion and determination. On March 2, 2012 Parm Gill, Member of Parliament for Brampton-Springdale, will be joining forces with four incredibly passionate local businesses, along with Regional Councillor John Sanderson , in hosting a fundraising Heart Lake Community Walk for The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Brampton’s Creating Affordable Recreation for Everyone (C.A.R.E.) program.

“Unfortunately our younger generations have become increasingly inactive in their daily routines and lack guidance on how to make healthy food choices,” said Parm Gill. “As a result, diabetes and obesity are becoming all too common realities for many children today. This is why we have teamed up with some of Brampton’s most passionate and health-conscious community members to make a difference.”

The Heart Lake Community Walk will directly support the continuous efforts to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through research. It will also assist the C.A.R.E. program’s mandate to ensure our youth are given the opportunity to benefit from recreation programs regardless of their financial situation.

“We joined the CBC Live Right Now movement, along with Champions 4 Change, to inspire Canadians, especially our children and youth, to understand the importance of healthy lifestyle choices,” said Parm Gill. “We are leading by example because it is vital to have role models within the community who can teach our younger generations how to be healthy, active and safe. Our children are our future and by coming together as a community we can help make their lives even brighter.”

The City of Brampton is competing on the national stage to be crowned the Live Right Now Capital of Canada by the CBC. This title would come with a $100,000 Natural Playground for our community, which would ensure that our youth have access to a state-of-the-art, outdoor play area where they can remain active and have fun.

At 2:00 p.m. on March 2nd we will be gathering at Somerset Drive Public School to begin our walks with Primary and Junior students. These walks will be supervised by Somerset staff, as well as volunteers from Champions 4 Change and our office.

“Come out and join us or just come to cheer us on. Show your support for a healthier Brampton and a healthier Canada by being part of this landmark event,” said Parm Gill. “Together we can make a difference in our communities.”
