Attack on Burqa Mosque - Statement by the Honourable Jim Karygiannis, Member of Parliament for Scarborough-Agincourt, and Liberal Critic for Multiculturalism

StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-I was shocked to learn of the vandalism and burning of the new mosque in Burqa, a small town just east of Ramallah.

This vicious attack seems to be part of a string of attacks on Palestinian property and religious institutions.

The perpetrators are reported to be young extremists from nearby, illegal settlements.  The authorities must take all necessary measures to apprehend these individuals, bring them to justice and ensure that they bear the full weight of the law.

The right to practice one’s faith in peace and security is a basic human right.
