November 1, 2010: Although Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar are trying their best to come up with the popular game shows of their own, none of them can beat the old veteran Amitabh Bachchan. This angry young man has turned out to be the biggest brand within the Hindi film industry itself. He has proved time and again that he is the guy with the biggest selling power on the big screen as well as the small screen.
Most TV critics believed that Amitabh’s ‘KBC’ will take a beating from ‘Bigg Boss 4’ because of Salman Khan’s star power but it seems that things are going the other way round. Despite a tough competition from Salman Khan’s 'Bigg Boss 4' and Akshay kumar’s 'Master Chef', 'KBC' is still going high on the popularity charts.
Apparently 'KBC' has got the vote of the audience and Amitabh continues to be the biggest crowd puller on small screen. Armed with his charismatic presence and the smooth baritone, Amitabh has simply outgunned the onscreen histrionics of both Salman and Akshay. While Sony’s 'KBC' opened with a TVR of 6.2, Salman Khan’s ‘Bigg Boss 4’ is trailing behind at 4.8. The most unimpressive performance has to be that of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Master Chef’ which is staggering behind at a mere 2.6 TVR. This goes on to show that Amitabh Bachchan is the most popular TV anchor in India. Although some of the biggest names in Bollywood have made their debuts in the small screen, none of them have fetched in more TRP than Amitabh.
