StarBuzzOnline:

June 13, 2014, Brampton] - Over 30 youth finalists received recognition for their outstanding works in art and literacy through Brampton’s Library Inspirations program - the Library’s Journal of Writing and Artwork. Lester B. Pearson Theatre was filled yesterday night with children, teens, parents, relatives, friends, and school teachers for the 16th annual Inspirations award presentation.
The first writing contest was conducted in 1999 to promote literacy and encourage children to participate in the creative arts, and has since expanded to include poetry and short stories. This year, close to 500 entries from students in grades 1 through 12 have been submitted.
“We are so delighted to see youths being inspired and engaged, especially in our digital age,” says Rebecca Raven, CEO of Brampton Library. “For many finalists, this is the first time having their works published, and Brampton Library wishes to continue to provide this opportunity for young talents to be inspired, so they can inspire their peers.”
The Journal is available at all library locations.
