About Meagan’s Walk:
In 2000, Denise’s daughter Meagan was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour at four years old. This was something the family knew little about. It was not until they lost her six short months later that they learned brain tumours are the leading cause of cancerous death amongst children and teenagers up to the age of 20. To Denise, it was a shocking statistic, and she knew something had to be done to get it under control.
It was the start of an idea that became Meagan’s Walk. Denise wanted to honour her daughter and raise awareness and funds for paediatric brain tumour research in Canada. Over the past 11 years, over $2.7 million has been raised through Meagan’s Walk and its many events throughout each year.
