OTTAWA – Prime Minister Stephen Harper today congratulated swimmer Richard Weinberger on his bronze medal in the men’s 10 km marathon at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.
“Mr. Weinberger displayed incredible determination and athleticism today,” said Prime Minister Harper. “On behalf of all Canadians, I extend my most sincere congratulations to him on this impressive achievement.”
Richard Weinberger, of Victoria, British Columbia, is a first time Olympian and this is his first Olympic medal. Mr. Weinberger earned a spot in London 2012 with a silver medal finish in the men’s 10-kilometre race at the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) Olympic Marathon Swimming qualifier.
