MISSISSAUGA, ON - Emerging vocalists from across the G.T.A are set to rock Celebration Square as they compete for the chance to become the next SingFest Vocal sensation at the competition finals to be held on Friday, July 20 at 7 p.m. The finals will be held during the Rotary Club of Mississauga West's Amazcon RibFest. Get ready to indulge in delicious ribs as you enjoy the sweet sounds of the G.T.A's freshest batch of up-and-coming singers. Celebration Square is located at 300 City Centre Dr. in the heart of Mississauga.
Produced by the Rotaract Club of Mississauga in partnership with the Mississauga Arts Council, the competition gives emerging vocalists between the ages of 14 to 24 an opportunity to compete for a chance to become the next SingFest Star! Winning the competition is a major career break as it includes studio recording time at Metalworks, press coverage, a complimentary vocal session with expert vocalist Carolyn Lykkemark, prizes and so much more!
"We know Mississauga is a hot-bed of up-and-coming vocal talent," explains Linda Thomas, Executive Director of the Mississauga Arts Council. "We invite all emerging vocalists to take advantage of this amazing opportunity to hone their talents and win the title of the 2012 SingFest Star. Participating in the competition is an unforgettable experience that will positively impact the career of any young performer."
The Rotaract SingFest competition was disseminated over two rounds. The original top 40 contestants were selected to perform at the Semi-Final Round on July 21 where a panel of professional judges decided which contestants would move on to the final round. Judges include MARTY Award winning Blues performer Johnny Max and the celebrated Carolyn Lykkemark. Following this Semi-Final Round, the top 20 contestants will now perform and compete at the Finals held on Friday, July 20, 2012 during the Amacon Rotary Ribfest Competition at Mississauga Celebration Square.
