From watching John Wayne movies in Africa to celebrating the centennial of the Calgary Stampede: Deepak Obhrai recalls how the Stampede kindled his Western spirit

www.insurancerate.com StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto(Calgary) - Deepak Obhrai, Member of Parliament for Calgary East and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs,  on Wednesday represented the Government of Canada at the unveiling of a Special Edition Silver Dollar celebrating the centennial of the Calgary Stampede.

Mr. Obhrai said, “This marks an important milestone in my life. I attended my first Stampede in 1978, after migrating from Africa. I immediately took to this Western culture after attending the Stampede and my fondness has grown ever since.”

“My previous exposure to the Western culture was through John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies. Today, I am happy to be representing our government at the 100th anniversary of this great Western cultural event,“ he added.
