Join Streetsville’s Sunday, July 1st Canada Day Candlelight festivities ramping up at 6.00 p.m. on Main Street concluding with a spectacular Fireworks display at 10.00 p.m. at Streetsville Memorial Park.
Reshmi Nair from CBC will once again kick off activities on the Main Street stage with much loved Streetsville choral group JUSTUS, followed by an Irish dancing demonstration. Special guests will do the honours for our cake cutting ceremony – who doesn’t like to blow out candles and sing happy birthday?!! Fashionista’s city wide will be talking about our Best Canada Day costume contest in baby, youth, teen & adult categories … Our stage then turns into a truly Canadian experience with a donut eating contest. Don’t miss these fun activities & great prizes generously donated from Streetsville businesses! Catch the fabulous sound of the ‘Strato Chief’ band – bring your singing voice & dancin’ shoes for a great time!
Various children’s activities are planned to entertain our young Canada Day birthday guests - clowns, face painting, an RCMP Officer in traditional uniform, Canada Day crafts that include soap carving, Canadian Wood Carvers Association demonstration, a visit by Queen Elizabeth herself, 1812 Soldiers & more!
Hungry crowds can visit their favourite Streetsville Rotary Club street grill topped off by Birthday Cake provided by the Streetsville Lions Club.
Completing our perfect evening will be the Streetsville Legion Colour Party flag raising and our own Streetsville Pipes & Drums leading birthday guests to the park to enjoy an exciting fireworks display, generously provided by lead sponsor CIBC and CIBC Wood Gundy. Before the Fireworks, at the park, enjoy the sound of music by ‘Strings Attached’, and, the all girl band ‘Done With Dolls’ … what a night!
