The 4th Annual Anne Murray Charity Golf Classic in support of Colon Cancer Canada is coming up on
Tuesday, June 26, 2012.
The golf tournament began as an opportunity to honour colon cancer patients, and over the years has
grown to include not only Canada’s singing legend Anne Murray, but an array of renowned celebrities as
well. This annual event brings out over 200 players to one of the Toronto area’s finest golf courses.
Since the tournament’s inception in 2004, over $900,000 has been raised for Colon Cancer Canada. This
year’s goal of $200,000 will take Colon Cancer Canada well over the tournament’s million-dollar goal.
The list of celebrity guests that will be joining Anne this year is more impressive than ever. The all-star
line-up includes: Emcee, Pat Foran of CTV News; scientist, astronaut, photographer, Dr. Roberta Bondar;
award-winning singer/songwriter, Tom Cochrane; award-winning jazz artist, Kellylee Evans; CEO,
television personality and bestselling author, Robert Herjavec; Jeff Hutcheson from CTV’s CANADA AM;
Canadian icon Peter Mansbridge of CBC news; U.S. Women’s Open Champion Sandra Palmer; Canadian
golf legends, Marlene Streit and Sandra Post; figure skating icon Kurt Browning and accomplished
dancer/choreographer Blake McGrath.
“Our fourth tournament is shaping up to be the most spectacular to date,” said Bunnie Schwartz, Co-
Founder and President of Colon Cancer Canada. “We are overwhelmed with the continued support of
Anne Murray and these many celebrities that she always manages to bring with her. We are also
thankful to our many sponsors, including The Shandex Group, PENTAX and Olsen Europe. I know we can
reach this year’s goal of $200,000.”
The Anne Murray Charity Golf Classic is a double course tournament at Angus Glen Golf Club in
Markham. Green fees are $400 for a single player and $1,600 for a foursome (including HST) with all
proceeds going to Colon Cancer Canada. Players will enjoy 18 holes of championship golf, a delicious
lunch at the club, exciting on-course activities, an evening cocktail reception presented by Olsen Europe,
gourmet dinner and amazing silent and live auctions.
