Ban Veena Malik, IAAF writes to Home Minister, Mumbai Police Commissioner

StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-Mumbai: Saturday 3rd December 2011: The Indian Artistes and Actors Forum (IAAF) and veteran actress Poonam Dasgupta have filed a police complaint with the Commissioner of Police, DCP Enforcement and Social Service Branch of the Crime Branch of the Mumbai police today (Saturday) against Veena Malik for her nude photo shoot on the cover of FHM magazine. Spokesperson for the IAAF, Flynn Remedios, said that a written complaint was submitted to the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai, the Social Service Branch and the Home Ministry on Saturday.
The police have been requested to register an FIR under the relevant sections of the law against Veena Malik and others. The IAAF has asked the Foreigners Registration Office of the Mumbai police to verify the nature of visa granted to Veena Malik and as to who are the sponsors of the Visa. According to the IAAF, Veena Malik has only a Business Visa which permits her to attend meetings, conferences, seminars and auditions but not to work and earn an income in India.

A foreigner has to have a Indian sponsor who has to guarantee and take responsibility of the foreigner to ensure that s/he does not violate any Indian laws. “Does Veena Malik have a Visa that allows her to work with every single Indian enterprise?” Normally work visas restrict the right of the individual who can only work for and through his or her sponsor who has taken the onus of ensuring compliance of Indian laws. The IAAF have requested the Mumbai Police and the Home Ministry to rescind the police permission or approval given to Veena Malik and cancel her visa.

he Indian Actors and Artistes Forum (IAAF) has called for a ban on Veena Malik for her cheap antics at getting free publicity. The IAAF has launched a protest on their Facebook page www.facebook.com/Ban.Veena.Malik and is in the process of enlisting support online.

Veteran actress Poonam Dasgupta Luthra speaking about Veena Malik said, “I was aghast to read about the killing of Hindus in Pakistan and Veena Malik’s swayamvar drama on the same page of the newspaper. The first thing I can’t tolerate is why we should encourage people from an unfriendly country that export terrorism to India to work here? Also we have the best of beauty and talent in India which is recognized around the world and there is no reason to entertain a Veena Malik who has nothing special to offer. Veena comes from a country where such swayamvar-type drams are taboo. Is India a dust bin where shallow people without character come to dump their stunts? Veena Malik is nothing but trash. She is a cheap, shallow woman who will pose nude at the drop of a hat or even sleep around for work and we are welcoming such trash from abroad with open arms. It is a crying shame and a slap on the face of Indian talent.””

Spokesperson for the IAAF, Flynn Remedios says, “About 350 members of the IAAF have signed a petition addressed to the I&B Minstry, Home Minister and the Home Ministry, Government of India pleading that Veena Malik’s visa be revoked.  Why do we have to import such trash in India from outside when we have so much talent in our own country,” he asked?
