StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-OTTAWA – Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced that he will participate in the G-20 Summit in Cannes, France, from November 3 to 4.
“The global economic situation is very fragile,” said Prime Minister Harper. “It is imperative that the G-20 shows leadership in moving ahead on critical reforms. Financial markets as well as the public will be looking for a concrete and ambitious action plan coming out of Cannes.”
The G-20 leaders will discuss coordinated measures necessary to restore global growth and maintain financial stability and market confidence in the face of recent economic turmoil.
Canada continues to lead the G-7 countries in terms of the strength of its economic recovery. It is the only G-7 country to have recovered more than all of the jobs and output lost during the recession.
Canada has created over 650,000 net new jobs since July 2009 and The Next Phase of Canada's Economic Action Plan contains several measures - like the Hiring Credit for Small Business - that will create jobs and growth across Canada.
