The Mississauga Arts Council’s Cranberry Breakfast is just around the corner! Join MAC for a morning of networking, cuisine, art and entertainment on December 2 from 7:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tickets are $25 for members and $30 for non-members. The Living Arts Centre proudly presents the opening of Thank You for Playing.  An exploration of the early videogame aesthetics that inspired a generation, Thank You for Playing examines the socio-technological revolution spurred on by the development of an electronic medium. The exhibit features a series of mixed-media works that revisit the iconography of vintage videogames to provide a commentary on pertinent issues in contemporary art and society, and includes a range of media including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and interactive installation. The exhibit runs until January 22. An opening reception will be held on December 1 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free. The Living Arts Centre presents The Nutcracker, a holiday family treat from The State Ballet Theatre of Russia. With the timeless score of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the classical ballet celebrates the joy of a young girl’s romantic dream of Christmas and has become the most performed ballet of all time. Embrace the holidays with Footprints of Christmas, a twenty minute guided tour outside of St. Andrew's Memorial Presbyterian Church. Guests will interact with more than a dozen dramatizations including the three wise men, shepherds tending their sheep, the tax collector, a busy marketplace, the innkeeper and finally the newborn child in a manger. Come out to see live animals and enjoy some warm hospitality! Tours will take place from December 1 to December 3 at 6:30 p.m.

In keeping up with their tradition of helping and promoting up-and-coming Canadian talent, Deirdre Mallehe Music Inc. is proud to announce that they have partnered with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Peel to offer FREE music lessons to talented youth in the Peel region. The program provides deserving youth with FREE guitar, piano and voice coaching. If you are able to teach guitar, piano or voice coaching, please volunteer for this twice a month program. On December 4 the League of Canadian Poets is hosting a poetry reading, A Tribute to P.K. Page. This event is sponsored by the League of Canadian Poets and the Canadian Council for the Arts. P.K. Page was a full-time member of the L.C.P. and she was author of over 30 published books: ( poetry, fiction, essays). She won the Governor General's Award in 1954 for The Metal and the Flower. The event will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will include an open mic and door prizes! It will also feature Professor Richard Greene who taught Canadian Poetry in the English Department at U of T (Mississauga Campus). He was also the winner of 2010 Governor General’s Literary Award for Poetry. The reading will take place at the Mississauga Library, Courtneypark Branch, located at
