Anurag Kashyap to direct a thriller with Rahul Bhat as the lead to be jointly produced by Shahnaab Alam and Anurag Kashyap
StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-– Mar 31, 2011 – Anurag Kashyap selects Rahul Bhat (not Mahesh Bhatt’s Son) for his next project as the lead actor; this film is a thriller set in Mumbai, which Anurag wanted to make since long and was looking for an actor who could essay the role in a way he envisioned. After several interactions with Rahul, Anurag decided to cast him for the role because of Rahul’s understanding for the character. The film will be jointly produced by Anurag Kashyap and Shahnaab Alam, and will soon hit the floors.
Anurag said "I have known Rahul since my struggle days when we lived next door to each other. I only discovered his potential much later when i started to interact with him. And this thriller I wanted to do, his life experience is quiet close to the character I am writing."
Rahul said, “I am delighted to be a part of Anurag’s next and definitely gearing up for the silver screen after my time off. I am looking forward to work on Anurag’s style of cinema.”
There are also indications that ace international director Bill Bennett is also considering Rahul Bhat for his next film which is to be shot principally shot in India. Bill Bennett has met Rahul a few times already. On hearing that the ace director Bill Bennett is also considering Rahul for his next, Anurag commented "That’s great news... I am so happy for him."
About Anurag Kashyap:
He directed “Black Friday” (2004) which was about the 1993 Bombay bomb blasts, in which Kashyap even did a bit role as an ISI operative. The movie stood out, even on the international platform. It was screened at the Locarno International Film Festival and was nominated for the Golden Leopard. It won the Grand Jury Prize at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles.
He wrote and directed “No Smoking” (2007) and the feature length animation “Hanuman Returns” (2007). He directed the film “Dev D” in 2009 which got him the widespread attention, and his critically acclaimed “Gulaal” also released in the same year.
He penned screenplays and dialogues for Kabhie Kabhie, a television series in 1997 & in films Satya (1998), Shool (1999) and Deepa Mehta’s Water (2005) along with Main Aisa Hi Hoon (2005) is where some of the films.
About Shahnaab Alam:
Shahnaab Alam, over the last couple of decades, has been a professional who has traversed through almost all forms of media and entertainment. He started off as a journalist, who went on to become the associate editor in a couple of leading publications. As an Executive Producer for the In Network, he experienced the field of television and then went on to produce content for television as well.
He also moved on to Advertising and Events, wherein he produced several advertising campaigns for the electronic media. He has also produced several music videos like "Ghoom Tana" featuring Junoon, Shubha Mudgal and actress Nandita Das, and "Truth" a contemporary indo- western album by Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan. He has conceptualized and directed several events, from corporate shows to film industry awards. He also crated UN Foundation day concert in UN headquarters, New York in 2001.
Shahnaab Alam was an executive producer in “Socha Na Tha” directed by Imtiaz Ali then he worked at Yashraj Films as an executive producer and handled "Dhoom". Presently he is producing films independently and has already produced "Shoonya" and is producing a film directed by National Award winner Avik Mukhopadhyay

Rahul started his career as a model and became India’s top model overnight. He won the “FACE OF THE YEAR” (Mr. Photogenic) award in 1998.
He first appeared in Boogie Woogie series. He also appeared in Heena (TV series) in role of Sameer ex-husband of Heena. Also he appeared in few Hindi movies. He became a Bollywood actor after TV series Heena. He started his career by commercials like Ponds, Breeze.
He has acted in films like – Yeh Mohabattein and Nayee Padosan. He turned television producer in 2009 with the serial Tum Dena Saath Mera on DD-1. Under the banner of his production company Filmtonic Entertainment, he has produced over 1000 hours of television programming already.
