StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement congratulating Canadian artists who were honoured at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards:
“On behalf of all Canadians, I offer my sincere congratulations to Neil Young, Michael BublĂ© and Arcade Fire, for their wins at the 2011 Grammy Awards ceremony.
“Recognized, respectively, for Best Rock Song, Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year by the American music industry’s most prestigious award, these talented Canadian performers continue to achieve great heights in artistic excellence.
“I would also like to honour singer George Beverly Shea, the most recent Canadian recipient of a Grammy Award for lifetime achievement.
“I would also like to congratulate all Canadian artists who were nominated for Grammys. These awards and nominations are a testament to a thriving Canadian music industry.”
