StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-Shiamak’s taken India to the world and is on constant effort of create a global connect through performing arts. The entertainment icon is getting ready to add another feather in his cap. Performing with Bryan Adams, one of his favourite Canadian singers, Shiamak is compiling an act that will feature the best from Bollywood and Rock at the Micromax Bryan Adams Live in Concert India Tour by Netsurf Entertainment in Mumbai.
Speaking of the association an overwhelmed Shiamak Davar states, “I am extremely honoured to have been given this opportunity to open for Bryan Adams. Performing with Sting at the Channel [V] Awards in 1998 is one of the highlights in my singing career. And this will definitely be another experience I look forward to.”
Shiamak has built a strong bond with Canada over the years. The association started in 1998 when the then Vice Consul Sanjeev Chowdhury approached him to perform a fund-raiser for the Terry Fox Foundation. He not only raised a lot of money for the foundation, but also raised a whole lot of awareness. Soon thereafter he convinced Bollywood director Subhash Ghai to shoot the song ‘Kahin Aag Lage’ for the film Taal at the Skydome (now called the Rogers Centre) in Toronto, Canada, where he also included Canadian dancers with his dance company in the song. In 2007, when Premier Gordon Campbell (British Columbia, Canada) visited Mumbai, he made him shake a leg to Dhoom Machale. Later in 2008, he was invited to perform at the India Calling event organized by the Indo Canadian Business Council in Vancouver. In November 2009, during his visit to India, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper visited the sets of the reality dance show Dance Premier League, where Shiamak Davar was the Dance Guru. In June 2010, he was later invited by Prime Minister Harper, as a special guest, for a dinner hosted by him in honour of the Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh during the G8 Summit in Toronto. His Bollywood Jazz, Indo Jazz and Yoga have become increasingly popular in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto. Shiamak Davar's Institute for the Performing Arts has also been inviting some of the best dance teachers from Canada to teach his students across India.
Shiamak’s true being lies in singing, and each opportunity to be on stage gives him great creative satisfaction. Performing with the legendary Bryan Adams marks a pleasant beginning to the year for Shiamak. ‘Starting 2011 in South Africa performing for the President of the country, bringing international teachers from across the world to train my students and now performing with Bryan, what more could I ask for!’, signs off an enthusiastic Davar.
