StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-Orlando, FL – International recording artist Prita Chhabra will be presenting a world premiere of her debut music video “Roots” at the 2nd annual Tampa India International Film Festival (IIFF), on Feb. 20 at Channelside Cinemas in Tampa. The day prior, Prita will also be performing at the 8th annual Indiafest on Feb. 19, at the Meyer Amphitheater in West Palm Beach.
“Roots” is an R&B and world music fusion experience, in which Prita describes both the joys and struggles of being raised in North America while having cultural roots in another country (in Prita’s case, India). Last year's inaugural Tampa India International Film Festival featured a screening of Russell Peters' "Red, White & Brown" stand-up comedy film with a personal introduction by the world renowned comic, in addition to a performance by Prita at the festival's sold-out after-party.
Currently based between Orlando and Toronto, Prita was born in Montreal but raised in Florida, receiving her first taste of showbiz while working and singing at Disney World. Prita’s last Florida tour was this past December 2010, where she performed at the Orlando Santa Farewell Festival ; headlined a New Year’s Eve gala for Orlando’s Indian community ; and sang the US anthem for the Orlando Magic at their new Amway Center.
