StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-January 21, 2011: Farooq Sheikh is one of those veteran actors who will always remain in the memory of cine lovers as his great acting abilities had him portray certain very impressive characters on screen. His roles in Chashme Buddoor, Shatranj Ke Khiladi, and Umrao Jaan etc are certainly some of his greatest contributions to cinema.
However, with such a great mileage of experience and loads of talent the actor is still quite happy enacting roles on the silver screen, the small screen and also theater, as in plays, but he is unwilling to get into film making.
According to reports, the veteran actor has stated that he has no energy to go around making films as he would rather act in the best of them and be happy. According to this great actor, he feels that he is lucky along with this generation of actors and performers as there is plenty of work available for everyone who is willing to work. Thus with such a vast opportunity to work, he feels that there is indeed no need for him to venture into difficult areas such as film making.
Farooq Sheikh has hosted many television shows and his play titled “Tumhari Amrita” is being staged in Mumbai for the past 19 years or so. His dynamic presence is something which adds aura to all his roles.
The latest project that this actor has worked in is Hema Malini’s home production titled Tell Me Oh Khuda, the film has other big actors like Dharamji, Vinod Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, Deepti Naval with Hemaji coming in a special role as well.
Farooq Sheikh has won the National Award for Best Supporting actor for his role in the film Lahore.
