Katie Stevens on the way to be a Portuguese Idol

StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-December 3, 2010 -Katie Stevens is bringing her talent to Portugal, making her Portuguese grandmother, who is currently fighting Alzheimer’s disease, a very happy lady. After being voted off of American Idol in April, Stevens moved to LA to pursue her musical career. In November, while working on her first album, she announced via twitter that she would be performing on RTP Television on December 12, 2010. Portugal Idol, called Idolos in Portugal, is now on its fourth season with judges Manuel Moura dos Santos, Laurent Filipe, Roberta Medina and Pedro Boucherie Mendes. Katie's family hails from the area of Lousã in Centr ode Portugal.

On August 13, 2009, Kaite auditioned for American Idol in Boston, Ma singing “At Last” by Glen Miller resulting in judge Kara DioGuardi predicting, “You could be the potential winner.” Each week her fan base grew, and she became very popular among the Idol supporters. Unfortunately her American Idol career came to an end when she was voted off as the ninth contestant.

Stevens grew up in Middlebury, CT and recently graduated with the Pomperaug High School class of 2010. Katie realized that her voice attracted an audience at the young age of five when she sang the national anthem at a political party in her hometown. Ever since, she has been performing for a growing audience.
Post-Idol, Stevens has become quite popular within the talk show circuit. She has appeared on the Ellen Degeneres Show, the Late Show with David Letterman, and the Wendy Williams Show. She has now written nine songs for her upcoming albums, and as she tweets “I’m very excited (about Idolos).”
