TREWO's Mission: To create healthy communities by educating Canadians on how to prevent and address health issues.
TREWO Background:
Launched on April 1, 2009, the Ripple Effect Wellness Organization (TREWO) is a registered charity dedicated to educating and empowering Canadians to take control of their health through education and
empowerment.
Established by Order of Canada recipient Dr. Sudi Devanesen and Ravi S. Juneja, a founding member of EIPROC (East Indian Professionals Resident of Canada), the objective of TREWO is to bridge the care gap
between physicians and patients through open dialogue in as many languages and platforms as possible.
TREWO Mandate:
Canada is ethnically diverse and TREWO recognizes that Canadians require customized care at the community level. Certain cultural communities are at a higher risk for specific diseases, and require specialized care – including but not limited to diabetes, high cholesterol and Multiple Sclerosis. Given the enormity of the Canadian health landscape, TREWO is committed to:
• Acting as a one-stop health resource
• Initiating empowerment through interactivity
• Promoting physician/patient dialogue on the web through a new Doctor-on-Call initiative
• Providing a community-based perspective on healthcare support
• Caring for communities
TREWO Events:
TREWO recently organized and hosted a successful Health Mela on April 24, 2010 at the Pearson Convention Centre. This mela had a special focus on the South Asian community. Activities included informational health care sessions, yoga and meditation classes, cooking demonstrations and special entertainment performances.
