Music Industry Ready To “Get Blitz” Alongside RDB, Juggy D, and Tigerstyle Among Others
Toronto, ON – Blitz, the world’s predominant hip-hop artist of South Asian heritage, just released his highly anticipated sophomore album “Get Blitz” in stores across the UK and on iTunes worldwide, and has signed a deal with Universal India to release “Get Blitz” to the world’s largest music market later this year.
Blitz’s first single “Chumma” (KISS) featured none other than Bollywood super group RDB, best known for their recent film title track “Singh is Kinng” featuring rap icon Snoop Dogg and Bollywood star Akshay Kumar.
And “Take Your Picture”, Blitz’s second single, features bhangra heartthrob Juggy D, who first rose to fame in 2003 alongside producer Rishi Rich and current Cash Money recording artist Jay Sean, known to fans worldwide as the ‘Rishi Rich Project’.
Inspired in part by bhangra legend Sukshinder Shinda’s “Collaborations” album, “Get Blitz” pairs the rap star, born Tony Sidhu, with some of the world’s most talented South Asian artists including Navin Kundra, Kazz Kumar, Rafaqat Ali Khan, AG Dolla and Parichay, as well as producers Mentor, E=MC, Tigerstyle and others.
Raised in Toronto, Blitz is one of Canada’s most successful urban exports to the UK, where he was first discovered by celebrated bhangra producer Panjabi MC. Blitz’s debut album “The Rhyme Book” released in 2007 sold thousands of copies worldwide, spawned three top ten singles on the BBC Asian Network, and snagged two UK Asian Music Award nominations for Blitz as Best Newcomer and Best Urban Act.
Blitz’s music videos have also recently become the subject of critical acclaim, with the Chicago South Asian film festival screening “Chumma” (KISS), and “Take Your Picture” receiving its world premiere at the FILMI film festival in Toronto.
