Carnatic Rock Music Band AGAM Live Again with Shreya Ghoshal for Breast Cancer Awareness



Widely recognized as one of the most creative and influential musicians of the 20th century, Jimi Hendrix had said “Music doesn't lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.”

Oct 22, 2010 – Agam is a contemporary carnatic rock act from Bangalore, India. The band derives its name from the ancient tamil word “agam” which translates to the “inner self" in English. AGAM's music encapsulates the boundless, vibrant emotions of the human psyche. It explores, depicts and contemplates these countless aspirations and sentiments of the inner self. Their music combines the myriad hues of melodic scales and intricate rhythm structure offered by carnatic music with the aesthetic principles and tonal elegance from western world.


Their music also reflects the soulfulness in sufi music and the power of rock. Agam was chosen as the best band in South India by none other than Oscar Award winning Indian musician - A R Rahman whose comment “When I first heard them, I thought the lead vocalist was really fantastic! The way they rendered their composition was great” is a jewel in the crown for Agam.

October is the world breast cancer month. There are millions of women who fall victim to breast cancer every year. This October, Agam decided to come together and do their small bit to spread awareness on breast cancer and support the victims. With the song “Ummeed” rendered by Shreya Ghoshal, one of the greatest singers that the country has ever produced - Agam aspires to touch the lives of those who are affected, to tell them in a musical way that all it takes to conquer breast cancer is a little hope, faith & belief. Shreya Ghoshal is a four times national award winning indian playback singer. Ghoshal's career began when she won the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa contest as an adult. Her Bollywood playback singing career began with Devdas, for which she received both the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer and the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent. Since then, she has worked in more than 180 films. She has worked with many prominent Indian musicians, and several of her songs have achieved critical and commercial success. Shreya is one of the most awarded playback singers in recent times, with four National Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards to her credit.
