Bollywood Actress Preeti Zinta along with FIA President Nirav Mehta and the executive members rang the opening Bell of NASDAQ to celebrate India s Independence day at Times Square in Manhatten on 17th Aug 2010.
The most celebrated Bollywood Actress Preity Zinta and executive committee members of Federation of Indian Associations Tri-State visited NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square to preside over the NASDAQ opening bell.
The biggest ever India Day Parade for 2010 was held on Aug. 15, 2010. The parade was attended by Super Star of Indian Film Industry Preity Zinta, Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago and other leading U.S. political dignitaries.
The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) of the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut is one of the largest umbrella organizations in the Indian community. It represents and provides grass-root support to a 500,000-member strong, vibrant Asian-Indian community. Established in the year 1970, the FIA has blossomed into an esteemed organization that has become a formidable voice and platform for the community.
The FIA represents various issues that concern the growing Asian-Indian community at the local, state, and national levels. Over the years, it has taken perceptions and information about India to the mainstream community and furthered the interests of Indians residing in the United States. It is in this spirit that, since 1981, FIA holds the largest India Day Parade in the world in New York City to represent our progress and unity to the many diversified ethnic communities in this area.
