www.insurancerate.com StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-Citizens for the Advancement of Community Development (CACD) and the Mississauga Valley Community Centre & Library will hold their annual Black History Month celebrations this Thursday, February 23 from 10:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.

The celebration will feature a day of community events and entertainment focusing on Black Canadians and how they have shaped Canada's development as a culturally diverse, compassionate and prosperous nation.
The day-long celebration will begin with a family story-time session for kindergarten students from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. followed by arts and crafts, bracelet/necklace making and drumming from 12 – 1 p.m. for middle school students. Afternoon activities will include art displays, craftmaking, interactive dioramas of prominent black speakers from Canada's history, and much more.
The evening programming will kick off at 6 p.m. with a special series of exhibits showcasing black history through books, arts and crafts, a presentation on “Black Presence in Canada”, cultural music by local artists, poetry and spoken word recitals, break-dancing demonstrations, cultural skits, cultural food sampling, African drumming and a number of guest speakers, who will be making special presentations to commemorate Black History Month from 7 – 8 p.m.
All activities will be held in the lobby area at the Mississauga Valley Community Centre, located at 1275 Mississauga Valley Boulevard. All activities are free.
